Ancient Reminder is a hand-inked tribute to one of the world’s most enduring beliefs: that life doesn’t end but rather transforms. Inspired by Plate 7 of the Papyrus of Ani, this artwork reimagines symbols of time, protection, and rebirth found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

Two lions, the ancient guardian Aker in dual form, sit back-to-back as protectors of the horizon. One looks to Yesterday, one to Tomorrow, watching over the sun’s daily journey through darkness and into the light again. Near them stands the Bennu bird, a symbol of creation, renewal, and immortality, the inspiration for the phoenix legend, reminding us that endings often hide beginnings.

Rows of hand-drawn hieroglyphs flow like sacred passages, inviting the viewer to slow down and explore their meaning. A towering bouquet of lotus blooms, papyrus stalks, and reeds, plants tied to rebirth and the Nile’s lifegiving cycles, brings the composition into the realm of the living.
